ENDORSEMENT
I have known Roelien for a number of years and have been impressed by range and depth of knowledge. She is able to work within existing constraints and yet not compromise the work that she is doing. With her background in education and psychology Roelien is in a unique position to draw on whatever skill-set she needs to understand problems and propose solutions and to conduct insightful research. I have worked with Roelien before and would be happy to do so again.

PARENTS and TEACHERS
All you to need to know - series
This series consists of booklets (roughly 50-60 pages each) summarising key topics in early childhood development. Each booklet contains easy-to-follow explanations of key concepts based on research, followed by practical ideas for class and home activities. These booklets are available with training packages. For enquiries click here.
In response to demand from teachers a special separate booklet for learners with visual perception worksheets has been developed.

MARKO-D SA validation and BALA WANDE Cooperation
I am working with Funda Wande to validate the Marko-D SA Sepedi test and hybrid-EGMA for use in South Africa. The Marko-D SA Sepedi test is a diagnostic mathematics conceptual test for 4 to 8-year-olds. The Marko-D SA is available in English, Afrikaans, Sesotho, isiZulu, and isiXhosa, and soon in Sepedi. The diagnostic value of the MARKO-D SA is explored in my Master's Dissertation (2017).
Funda Wande is a not-for-profit organization that aims to equip teachers to teach reading-for-meaning and calculating-with-confidence in Grades R-3 in South Africa. The Funda Wande materials are trailed and the programme is evidence-based, independently-evaluated, policy-aligned and cost-effective. All of the materials are open source and can be downloaded on the website. https://fundawande.org/

Error analysis- a learning opportunity?
Error analysis- a learning opportunity? Roelien Herholdt and Ingrid Sapire explore the use of quantitative error analysis in mathematics in an intervention project for Grade 1-4 learners. From this, they draw conclusions about the importance of interrogating and understanding the errors that learners make.
